NEW LIVE RECORDING UNEARTHED

Facebook contact leads to another sensational discovery

TBF 20149 July 2014: Egbert Berenst is a busy metal head who organises the Taken By Force Metalfest. This year's edition will take place on 4 October (check out the bill on the right). He contacted Regular Rocker with an interesting mail through facebook: "I have converted three songs from tape to mp3. They're from the Heipop Festival in Bussum. I know two titles, but I don't recognise the third one. Where can I send them to?"

Did you read that? Make sure, read again:

"I know two titles, but I don't recognise the third one."

And again:

"I know two titles, but I don't recognise the third one."

Bodine Mk-I performed at Heipop in Bussum on 27 June 1981, a festival that also hosted Dr. Feelgood and Dexy's Midnight Runners, as sources on internet seem to suggest. Later that day, Bodine performed on stage at De Kasbah in Maarssen. For economic reasons it wasn't uncommon in those days for bands to do two concerts on one day. With the fees they earned they simply had to. Long story short:...

Three songs of Bodine's performance were recorded and later broadcast on radio. The first song is New York City streets, the second is On The Lookout and the third one is an unknown song which is yet to be identified. Is it a cover? Is it a composition of the band? When was it composed? Did they play it more often?

The quality of the recordings is above average. There's a good balance between the instruments and the Jay's voice can be heard well. The band's performance is exceptional, to say the least.

Beside the unknown song, there is another mystery to be solved: When was it broadcast, by which radio station? Who is the moderator that can be heard at the end? Answers are welcome!

10 July 2014 (UPDATE) The song is called "Autobiography", as Jay himself kindly pointed out. You can actually hear him mention the title just before the song starts. Thanks for clarifying this, Jay!
